How To Ride A Motorcycle On A Hill Tips

I want to talk about very important thing : how to ride a motorcycle on a hill or slope.

Do you want to learn how to stop and take off on a hill or slope?

I have some tips for you!

Even a small motorcycle is hard to hold from rolling backwards, it is almost impossible to hold the motorcycle from rolling backwards with your body.

I can think of four different ways to hold the motorcycle from rolling backwards while sitting on it.IMG_5577

1. Front brake

2. Back brake

3. Clutch

4. Throttle

This is hard to learn and almost as hard to explain, most of the time a person will use two or more of these at the same time. You may want to start learning this on pavement and then try it a few times in the gravel or dirt.

What you want to do is get your motorcycle on a small slope.

First using only the front brake let the motorcycle roll backwards and then pull the front brake to stop. This can be done without having the motorcycle running if you like.

After doing this a few times you should get the feel of how the front brake will stop and hold the motorcycle from rolling backwards.

Now try the same thing using the foot brake. Taking off on a slope can be very scary for many people, what you have to learn is to use the front brake/foot brake, clutch, and throttle at the same time or should I say in a very quick order. Let me explain this:

You have already came to a stop on a slope, your holding the motorcycle from rolling backwards with either the hand brake or foot brake, your ready to take off so you will let out on the clutch very slow and you will feel the clutch start to take hold, when the clutch starts to take hold stop letting out on the clutch for a few seconds and release the front brake which will allow your hand to grab and start turning the throttle. This is called slipping the clutch, and some people may say it is not good on the clutch. Most motorcycles have a wet clutch in them and the little you do this will not cause any damage. You can practice stopping the motorcycle from rolling backwards with the clutch just like you did with the front brake.

Another thing to learn that helps doing all this is to use just one or two fingers to pull the brake lever, I’ll hold the front brake lever with two fingers and this allows me to still grip the throttle with my thumb and the other two fingers. I can roll the throttle and still have the front brake applied a little. This takes some practice but is well worth the time to learn b/4 get on the road.

This is just few tips  for how to ride a motorcycle on a hill or slope.  Visit here for more tips.
